How to download and Install R
Version of R exists for Windows, MacOS, and Linux/UNIX computers.
- The R installation is distributed by the Comprehensive R Archive Network (CRAN)
- Install both R and RStudio
- Click on one of the India links, such as https://ftp.iitm.ac.in/cran/ (choose geographically closer to you). These are CRAN mirrors
- In the `Download and Install R’ box, click on the `Windows’ link.
- Click on the `base’ link.
- Click on the `Download R 3.6.1 for Windows‘ link (This version may vary). This will download R for windows. You can also download R for other operating systems. Choose appropropriate operating system
- Download
- Save the file at a desired location
- Double-click on the .exe icon and follow the instructions.
- When asked to `Select the components you want to install’, choose the (default) `User’ installation.
- Don’t worry about `customizing the startup options’.
- In general, you should install R perfectly by just clicking on the `Okay’, `Next’, or `Finish’ buttons at each step and letting the R set-up use the default choices.
